The 1976 blue AMC Pacer, immortalized in the movie “Wayne’s World” as the iconic Mirthmobile, has undergone a full restoration and is now on display at the Petersen Museum in Los Angeles, United States.
The car became famous for the iconic scene where Wayne, Garth, and their friends sing Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” inside the vehicle — a moment that helped bring the song back to the charts.

After filming, the car had an interesting journey: it was used for promotions and eventually given away as a prize through MTV. Later, it ended up in a local museum in Oregon, where it was left exposed to the elements and deteriorated. It didn’t return to the spotlight until years later, when it appeared on the History Channel’s show “Pawn Stars.”
Although it was restored at that time, the work wasn’t fully faithful to the original. That’s when Kevin and Brandon Mindel, movie car enthusiasts and collectors, bought the vehicle and decided to return it to its exact film condition — including the licorice dispenser on the dashboard.
Now, the Mirthmobile can be seen in all its ‘70s charm in the Hollywood Customs gallery at the museum.
